The Junior Women's League of Smithfield's (JWL) Provisional Class worked tirelessly to make this year's Peanut Butter Buddies (PBB) Drive a success. With so many local small businesses, public institutions, school clubs, community members, grocery stores, and JWL members joining them in their efforts, our Provisional Class was able to collect an astounding 2,608 jars of peanut butter for the Backpack Buddies Program! This success was made possible with the help of our 13 Official PBB Donation Stations, numerous donation drives, and $1,789.95 in monetary donations from businesses and community members alike.

This overwhelming generosity from our community means that JWL Smithfield was able to provide 869 children in need at 25 Johnston County Public Schools with a Superfood offering more than 30 essential vitamins and nutrients.

Guidance counselors at every school have indicated that the impact JWL’s Peanut Butter Buddies drive will have on these children over the course of this summer and into the next school year is quite significant and expressed their appreciation for these donations.

Additionally, several large jars were donated to Johnston County Blessing Boxes and six, 5-gallon containers of peanut butter were donated to House of Hope, My Kid's Club and Smithfield Rescue Mission.
